Many film photographers whether capturing for fun or for profit have binders or boxes full of negatives or slides and the idea of scanning these precious slivers of life seems overwhelming and the cost of having someone do it.

I highly recommend the book Digitizing your Photos with you Digital Camera and Lightroom by Peter Krogh.

Field Trip to Vandergrift

An urban photography Experience • Vandergrift PA •

October 13 9AM Parking Lot off Columbia Avenuenear 11th Street.

Critique Session November 10 in Bloomfield

If you are joining us in Vandergrift for the Photography Field Trip plan to meet at the Parking lot across from G&G Restaurant at 9:00 AM (G&G 149 Columbia Ave, Vandergrift, PA 15690) We plan to have lunch if they have seats available at G&G around 1 PM. The urban landscape is a genre of photography that gives license for photographers to explore, capture and study the shape, geography, and design of urban spaces. I know for me, the camera is my passport to explore a city block or neighborhood. I can watch the way light plays of the architecture and topography of space; I can compose and see the lines texture and quality of light as the weather, sun and street lights paint the scene that I can capture and study.

This workshop will identify and explore an urban site for class exploration there is plenty of subjects to choose from architecture, landscape and street portraits. Any camera lens combination from Smartphone Cameras to the largest view cameras are welcome. There will be time for 1:1 conversations but the best part of these class expeditions is the opportunity to build community with other people like you. We will plan to meet up after the timed workshop to compare notes, share observations and plan our next adventure.

This workshop is two parts, with part 1, the photo field trip October 13 and part two a review and critical discussion of the photographs we created on November 10. We will share our work digitally projected or via prints made by each photographer.

Photography Expedition to Cook Forest  with filmmakers Melissa and David Rohm

"One of the great gifts that photography offers those who practice it enthusiastically is the time to explore whatever interests them. " Richard Kelly

I created the Richard Kelly Experience to follow my curiosity and share with as many people as possible.

Recently I had the chance to watch, "Cathedral: The Fight to Save the Ancient Hemlocks of Cook Forest. The film takes the viewer on a journey through the forest in all seasons, that tells the story of the efforts to save the hemlock trees of Cook Forest State Park, which are under attack by the Hemlock Woolly Adelgid, a destructive insect that has already killed thousands of trees in the eastern United States.

David and Melissa Rohm are the filmmakers who are going to lead us on our photo expedition.
